Domestic Violence  Advocacy

VICTIM SERVICES

We have four domestic violence advocates located at four different DSHS locations in Pierce County.  We also have two domestic violence advocates located in the Family Justice Center.  Our advocates are trained to provide advocacy based counseling and crisis intervention to any person requesting our services at their time in need. The advocates placed in DSHS locations help clients understand and navigate through the many services available at welfare offices. They also insure that they do not fall through the cracks and are not discriminated against. The advocates keep clients safe by educating TANF client about good cause waivers for child support enforcement actions.
This program allows our advocates to help domestic violence survivors:

➢    Safety plan to remain safe in their communities

➢    Relocate to a safe location due to domestic violence

➢    Find shelter

➢    Obtain counseling for both themselves and their children

➢     Advocate for themselves

➢   Receive temporary financial help

➢    Get locks changed

➢    Locate legal advocacy

➢    Obtain a Protection Order

➢    Receive court support for Protection Orders

➢    Find housing
