The clients we serve are from traditionally “underserved”
populations – i.e., at-risk and/or adjudicated teen aged
girls, rural women who are victims of domestic violence,
and women of color who are victims of domestic violence,
and families and youth involved in domestic violence.
Typically the women need domestic violence services that
includes, safety planning, protection orders, housing or
landlord/tenant assistance, court accompaniment, or legal
representation in court advocacy and supportive services
to three women with children per night. Residents may
stay 3-5 nights. Trained legal and community advocates
provide individualized advocacy, support and guidance in
navigating the legal/court system.
This project has been developed by the Domestic
Violence Helpline and they are seeking a “home” for this
project. One staff person/advocate locates temporary
shelters/homes for women fleeing domestic violence
situations and coordinates locating, transportation and
referrals as needed to other services. This projected is
funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
